Charisma Atkins, DrPH, is a results-driven Epidemiologist with more than 15 years of experience leading large-scale epidemiological studies, outbreak investigations, data analyses and evaluations, and domestic and global public health trainings. She has spent the majority of her career as an Epidemiologist across multiple divisions at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and she also brings valuable experience working with state and local governments.


Dr. Atkins brings a deeper expertise in program management, outcomes research, evidence generation, research design, health economic evaluations and modeling, capacity building, emergency response planning and preparedness, and collaboration across multi-sector, interdisciplinary teams. As a seasoned technical advisor and Subject Matter Expert, she has advanced program effectiveness, culturally responsive communication, health equity initiatives, and data synthesis efforts for diverse populations and communities. A published author, she has provided public health and clinical insights on major threats—including pandemic influenza, SARS, Ebola, hospital-acquired infections, and COVID-19.
